Gerd Opderbeck, age 80, of Newtown Square, passed away early Tuesday morning, at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Pennsylvania.
The world lost a really good one and we will never be the same without Gerd, Dad and Opi in our lives.
Gerd was born on June 15, 1941 in Wittenberge, Germany. He arrived in the United States in 1970 as an employee of Mercedes-Benz and went on to open Autobahn Motorcars in 1982. This would later become Mercedes-Benz of Devon.
Being a Mercedes-Benz dealer was the perfect match for Gerd as he had an underlying love for vehicles, motorcycles and generally anything that would go. For Gerd, his wheels, were second only to his family and friends. To say he was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, and Brother would the greatest understatement of all time. He was kind. compassionate, understanding, and loving to all.
Gerd is Survived by his loving wife Patricia nee Gerber; his children Elizabeth Stout with husband Stephen Stout Jr. , and Christopher Opderbeck; his grandchildren Spencer Jane, Stephen Paul III, and Collins Martha; brothers Kurt-Bernd and Holger Opderbeck; Goddaughter Eva Stoiber; nephews Maximillian and Patrick Stoiber; and niece Charlotte Stoiber.
Gerd's family will be holding a Celebration of Life on Thursday, September 2ed from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the family home in Newtown Square. In lieu of flowers, Please consider sending donations to The Vanguard School located at 1777 North Valley Road, Malvern, PA 19355, 610-296-6725 or www.vfes.net/donate.
