Jerome “Jerry” Patrick Bushong Sr., 74, passed away on August 21, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Preceded in death by father James J. Bushong Jr., mother, E. Christina McCloskey Bushong, and brother John. He is survived by his son Jerome Bushong Jr., daughter Stephanie Bushong, daughter-in-law Dayna Bushong, son-in-law Mike Coulter, grandson Jerome Patrick Bushong III, brother James Bushong III, sister Christina Bushong Brett, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that became family.
Jerry, a 1968 Monsignor Bonner Catholic High School graduate, served in the U.S. Marines and fought in the Vietnam War.
He remained a dedicated Marine throughout his life and was a committed volunteer with the “Honor Flight,” supporting fellow veterans. A “Tin Knocker” by trade, he worked with sheet metal in Shop 17 at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, and later after years of service, retired from the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 19.
In 1993, he and his family moved to Florida Park, Newtown Square and became active members of St. Anastasia’s Roman Catholic Church, where he attended Mass regularly.

Viewing and funeral services will be held at St. Anastasia’s Church in Newtown Square on Friday, August 30th. The viewing will begin at 9:00 am immediately followed by 10:30 am mass. Directly following the church services, funeral procession will go to St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery.
