It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Marie Melville (nee Maas) on August 4, 2021. Joan was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all whose lives she touched. She left us while sleeping peacefully at her residence in Broomall, PA, with her family by her side. She was 83 years old.
Joan is survived by her children, Jean Marie Hanley (nee Melville) (Clarence) and Curtis L. Melville, Jr. (Tara) Grandchildren Ryan Hanley, Megan Hanley, Krista Melville, and Amber Melville, her sister Elaine Boyd (Maas) and nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her devoted husband Curtis L. Melville, Sr. of 50+ years, grandson Curtis L. Melville III, and parents George and Elizabeth Maas (nee Wetton).
Joan lived a full life as a wonderful and caring wife, mother, homemaker, and administrative assistant at Rosemont College. She loved to travel, go to the beach, and play cards. She was a great cook, kept an immaculate house, and had a green thumb, so naturally, gardening was a passion. But most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children and grandchildren strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed.
A celebration of Joan's life will be held at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike. Newtown Square, PA 19073. on Thursday August 12, 2021. Visitation will start at 9:00 A.M., With a funeral mass at 10:00 A.M. and internment at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
