Kenneth Murphy Obituary

Kenneth William Murphy, son of the late John and Rosanna (Sweeney) Murphy, and brother of the late John Donald "Don" Murphy.

Ken graduated West Catholic High School class of 1952, and Temple University, Eckels Mortuary Science College. Ken was a U. S. Army veteran.

He was the owner of the Kenneth William Murphy Funeral Home, in the Grays Ferry section of South Philadelphia, where he provided generous services to many families in need up until very recently, as he succumbed to his illness.

Ken had a love for life and enjoyed his long life. For many years Ken had a summer shore house in Wildwood. He also had a series of boats which he used to entertain family and friends. 

Ken had a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing it with everyone. Ken's love of life and dedication of family and service of the greater community had him loved by many. He was a kind and generous man who will be deeply missed.

Ken is survived by his brother, Gerald Murphy and sister in law Esther (Garguile) Murphy, nieces, and nephews; Margaret Murphy Rose (Christopher), the late Cathy (Joe) Bradley,  Patricia Murphy Margarite (Anthony), Gerald Murphy, JR (Mariann), Joseph Murphy (Melissa) and David Murphy (Jennifer). Also survived by 14 grand nieces and nephews, and 5 great grand nieces and nephews and many cousins

Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday, July 1, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday July 2 after 8:30 AM, at Sweeney Funeral Home 209 N. Newtown Street Road (Rte. 252) Newtown Square, PA 19073.

Funeral Mass 10:30 AM at St. Anastasia Church Newtown Square, PA.
